Pokemon Birthday Party Games

So you've got young boys who love Pokemon and their birthday is fast approaching? Never fear, help is here. Both of my young sons love Pokemon, they are ages 6 and 9. What is Pokemon you say? Pokemon means "Pocket Monster" in Japanese. The crazy characters evolve into different characters and they use pokemon moves to "fight" each other causing "damage". This craze has originated in Japan, but is highly popular here in the US. The Pokemon characters all have an HP number, how much the Pokemon is worth and the higher HP cards are highly coveted young boys. Anyway, back to your party issue. I just threw a great Pokemon party for my son's 9th birthday. He loved it and his friends had a blast. Below are some great ideas for you and they are EASY and INEXPENSIVE to do. I sat down one night and came up with some games that I could easily make the supplies for and they would be fun to play. Below is a summary list of the games we came up with and read on to get the details of each one. Keep in mind, these are EASY, FUN and INEXPENSIVE and I will tell you exactly how I did it and what you need:

o Pass the Pokeball
o Pin the Tail on Pikachu
o Pokemon Balloon Dart Throw
o Pokemon Master Tracking
o Gliscor Bean Bag Score

1. Pass the Pokeball If you are remotely familiar with Pokemon, you will know about pokeballs. To play this game, I went to a craft store and purchased a LARGE Styrofoam ball, they seem to range in price from $5 to $11. I also bought some red washable craft paint while I was at the craft store. Paint half the ball with the red craft paint, let it dry, then use black electrical tape to tape around the circumference of the ball right where the white Styrofoam joins up with the red paint. This made the PERFECT pokeball. Quick and easy and inexpensive. Then we had a small keyboard (cheap one) that could be automatically set to play music. If you don't have a keyboard, use anything that can make music, cd player, musical instrument, drum set, guitar, anything that plays music and can be stopped and started. Have all the boys sit in a circle and they have to hand the pokeball to each other in a circular fashion. They cannot throw the ball. I would then start the music on the keyboard and close my eyes and stop it after 20 to 30 seconds. I closed my eyes, so I wouldn't know who was going to be holding the ball when the music stopped. Whoever is holding the ball when the music stops is out, then play again until there is only 1 player left. Give the player who is left a party prize.

Supplies recap:
i. Large Styrofoam ball
ii. Red craft paint
iii. Electrical tape

2. Pin the Tail on Pikachu - Pikachu is one of the main pokemon characters and if your kids like Pokemon they like Pikachu. For this game, I found a good picture of Pikachu. I used a picture out of the Pokemon Handbook that we have, but if you don't have one of those, use a pokemon card of Pikachu, or print a picture of Pikachu at pokemon.com. I bought a package of 10 white posterboards at a discount store. Look at the picture and draw a large picture of Pikachu to cover most of the posterboard (1 sheet). Don't draw his tail. Use a separate posterboard to draw enough Pikachu tails (shaped like a lightning bolt) for each party guest to have one. After I drew the Pikachu and then drew the tails, I had my kids color the Pikachu and tails, they loved helping. Cut out the Pikachu tails. I had an old cork board that I was able to mount this Pin the Tail on the Pikachu game onto so it had a sturdy back and could be hung up outside. Put the name of each party guest on one of the tails and right before they play, add a single strip of double sided tape. When you are ready to play this, use a bandana to cover the eyes of your party guests, spin them around in a circle twice and direct them towards the Pikachu. Don't allow them to feel their way around, wherever they touch the Pikachu they must put the tail on there, otherwise the kids who go last will be able to tell where to put the tails by feeling where the other kids tails are pinned. Give a prize to the party guest who gets Pikachu's tail closest to the right spot.

Supplies recap:

i. Picture of Pikachu
ii. Large white posterboard for drawing picture of Pikachu
iii. Large white posterboard for drawing multiple Pikachu tails only
iv. Double sided tape
v. Bandana

3. Pokemon Balloon Dart Throw - Kids love to pop balloons and throw darts, so put these two things together in a fun and easy activity. The night before the party I bought 50 balloons at a party store. Each Pokemon character has an HP value, or a points value. For example, Pikachu might be 60 HP, Shadowlugia 300 HP, etc... You can find the names of many Pokemon characters in a Pokemon handbook or you can find them online at Pokemon.com. Take some plain white paper and cut it into strips that are about 1 inch high by 3 inches long. Write the name of a different Pokemon and their HP Number on the strips. We had 6 boys at the party and I blew up 45 balloons. For example, you might write Ryperior 90 HP on a slip. Make each slip of paper with a different character and add the HP number (use multiples of 10 only for the HP values). We used each character name only once but reused the HP 50, HP60, HP70, HP80, HP90, etc... However we only had 1 character (Shadowlugia) that had the highest HP of HP300, no other card had the HP300 on it. Fold the slips of paper small and poke it inside the balloon prior to blowing up the balloon. I then used an air compressor to blow up the balloons quickly and tie them in a knot. You will see the little slips of paper inside. I stored the balloons overnight in large trash bags and they stayed aired up fine. I purchased a set of 6 darts at a sports store to use for this game. If you have a large cork board, attach the balloons with push pins to the cork board. Have the party guests stand back about 8 feet and throw 2 darts a piece and try to pop the balloons (like a traditional carnival game). If they pop a balloon have them gather up and keep the slip of paper with the Pokemon character on it and the HP number (see the next Pokemon Master tracking as to what to do with the slips of paper and keeping track of the HP numbers). They loved to pop these balloons and they loved finding the slips of paper to find out which Pokemon character they had and what was the HP number. We played several rounds of this game!

Supplies recap:

i. Bunch of balloons (have at least 40 or more)
ii. Plain white paper
iii. Names of Pokemon characters and made up HP numbers (I did not take the time to look up each characters real HP number, that is too much work, just put down any HP number you want, but only have one character with the highest HP
iv. Package of 6 darts (about $2.50)

4. Pokemon Master tracking - There is no doubt your kids are familiar with Ash Ketchum if they like Pokemon, he is a Pokemon master. In order to make it fun and to get the boys to want to get the slips of paper I put inside the balloons, I created a Pokemon Master chart to track each party guests characters and HP values. I used a large white posterboard and wrote Pokemon Masters at the top and used some Pokemon stickers to decorate with. You can buy Pokemon stickers, or use sticker paper in your printer and just print some Pokemon cards or Pokemon characters from the internet. I then divided (using a black market) the posterboard into how many party guests I have a made a large square for each of them. As the boys gathered the Pokemon character slips from popping the balloons, I had another adult log in their Pokemon characters and their associated HP Values onto the Pokemon Master chart. I just had it taped to my back door and the boys loved coming over to see what their Pokemon scores were. I gave a prizes for the highest HP sum in each round of darts. One child may pop a balloon with the Pokemon character slip of paper that said Metagross 90 HP and his second pop may have been Snover 60 HP, we recorded these both onto his square on the Pokemon Master tracking posterboard and his total HP for the round was 150 HP. If he had the highest score that round, he got a prize. I let the boys throw 2 darts a piece for each turn. I also gave a prize for the lowest HP score, so no one felt left out. Have an adult record the names and HP numbers to keep it moving. At the end of all the balloon popping I gave a prize to party guest who found the Shadowlugia 300 HP slip of paper, as it was our highest HP value "card".

Supplies recap:

i. Large white poster board
ii. Sharpie Marker
iii. Pokemon stickers to decorate the tracking poster with

5. Gliscor Bean Bag Score - If you have any type of existing bean bag toss game at your home, commandeer it for this game. We had a bean bag toss game that had 6 small bean bags. If you don't have one, you can make bean bags easily out of old socks and uncooked beans, just tie the socks in a knot after putting in the uncooked beans, PERFECT!. I used another white poster board to draw a Pokemon character on. We chose Glico for his shape as it would be good to toss the bean bags into his belly! I used the Gliscor Pokemon card to look at to draw the character on a large white poster board, then we colored with crayons based on how the character looks on the card. Then I lined up the existing bean bag game hole and cut a similar hole in the character's belly and taped the two together. If you don't have a bean bag game you can attach your poster board to, you can cut a hole in an old piece of plywood, or tape your posterboard Pokemon character with the hole in it to a laundry basket, anything that will basically catch the bean bags. You want the bean bag catch place to be tilted up slightly at the top, so the game is doable for the boys. Have the boys throw the bean bags from about 12-15 feet back and try to get a Gliscor score!!! Any Pokemon character will work for this game, just cut a hole about 6 inches wide in the posterboard wherever you are wanting the bean bags to go through. They played this a lot and several of them scored by getting a bean bag in the hole of Gliscor's tummy! I gave prizes to the ones who scored in the hole, if no one got it in the hole, I gave a prize each round for the party guest with the bean bag closest to the hole. You can knock off the bean bags of other players! They loved this competition.

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

Supplies recap:

i. Existing Bean Bag toss game if you have one
ii. If not, plywood with hole, or laundry basket and something to hold the board or basket on an angle with the top tilted up off the ground a bit to make the game doable for the boys
iii. White poster board
iv. Picture of desired Pokemon character
v. Crayons/markets
vi. Bean bags (existing or home made)

The boys at this party were between the ages of 6 and 9 and they absolutely loved playing these game. We also ordered a Pokemon cake from a local supermarket bakery and it looked awesome. I had also ordered Pokemon birthday theme plates, cups and napkins and a tablecloth. It was all very easy and looked great.

PRIZES
For prizes, I went to several of the dollar stores and discount stores and bought cheap glow sticks, light up pens, blow up baseballs and footballs, crazy bounce balls, sound makers that make poot sounds (they loved those!), glow in the dark aliens, stretchy snakes, packages of gummy worms. I decided which prizes to give and I put a sign on the prize bowl that said "Momma's prize bowl, hands off please!" That way they couldn't pick through the goodies that were prizes, they did trade a few prizes between each other. I recommend looking for fun cheap items that are about $1.00 or less, stay away from the truly junky toys that break immediately or no one in their right mind would want, that will just waste your money.

GOODY BAGS
For goody bags, I added candy like individual starburst, small M&M's packages, and gummies. I also found small silver alien stuffed toys ($1.00 a piece) and I had ordered Pokemon wrist sweat bands from an online party supply, these were very cool! Last but not least, I bought two 10 card each packs of Pokemon cards and divided those up so each goody bag got 3 Pokemon cards in it as well. I divided them up so not all the higher HP cards were in a single goody bag, spread around the fun! They loved these cards in their goody bags and it was an absolute blast of a party. Don't let this sound hard, I did all of this listed above plus I blew up 100 water balloons for use in the water balloon launcher just by doing a little bit in the evenings starting about 1 week before the party. You can do this too and give your son the best Pokemon party ever! I hope these ideas are useful to you, they really are EASY to do, low cost and fun, your party goers will love it!

Pokemon Questions And Possible Answers

The Pokemon story, in case you didn't know, isn't really a story at all. You'd be pardoned for thinking it was, with all the Pokemon goods for sale now. My son at the moment is absolutely mad for anything Pokemon Black and White, including Pokemon Plushies (those are Pokemon stuffed toys) and especially the Pokemon Black and White Game Cards (Holofoil cards being especially valuable). He definitely wants the Nintendo DS Pokemon Black and White game (I think he dreams about it, and he?ll just have to keep on dreaming because he's not getting that for a while).

With all the Pokemon goods, characters, and descriptions, you would think that there was a great Pokemon story behind it all. Actually there's not. Every merchandising spinoff you see from Pokemon, whether it's a plushie or full feature Pokemon movie comes from ideas and concepts that are developed by Nintendo for the game. Pokemon was never a story in other words- it was and remains an idea for a game.

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

If you're like me, that bothers you because I see in the Pokemon characters a rich potential for a great adventure story full of idyllic heroism and romance. It'S a bit like Harry Potter, a little bit like Star Trek, and a lot like dragon taming. The biggest thing that bothers me about Pokemon is their mysterious origin. They're just here and have always been here. It seems like something happened- a DNA mishap for example but it's not explained. There are no regular animals in the Pokemon world either but every Pokemon seems to have a regular animal's DNA. Humans are regular- why aren't they mutated too? The Pokeball is handy gadget to catch wild Pokemon with but it's never explained how it works. There are scientists and labs in the Pokemon world but the Pokeball is only the really significant piece of technology that we actually see.

Pokemon live in zones, and species of Pokemon are restricted to specific zones- they don't exist in other zones in other words. There are cities in the Pokemon world but the society and technology is minimally described. Above all, there is no overreaching goal in Pokemon. To become a Pokemon Master is about the only accomplishment that is mentioned in Pokemon.

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

All of these narrative shortcomings can be explained easily by the fact that all the spinoffs from Pokemon are limited to the game. Whatever is in the game will appear in a movie but nothing revolutionary will appear in a movie that is not in the game. This is because fans will expect to see in a game whatever they see in a movie- which would probably not be easy to do. Everything is dependent on the game. In a computer game the goal and the tools to reach that goal are usually simple and clear (even if hidden). There is no need for explaining and gamers are impatient with long narratives. They like scenarios. And that keeps Pokemon frozen in the now.

Marketing Ideas for Pokemon

The word in Pokemon goods right now is Pokemon Black and White. Kids (and grown ups!) are buying Pokemon Plush Dolls (stuffed toys) and Pokemon Cards like crazy. Especially popular in the card arena are shiny suicune, shiny entei and Traditional Pokemon cards are making a comeback as well. Pokemon spinoffs have been a huge success, and while the card game is second in popularity in the world (Mario- also Nintendo- is the first), Pokemon is definitely the game with world?s most successful spinoffs.

Pokemon spinoffs include trading cards, Pokemon stuffed toys, animation, and movies. Merchandising Pokemon has a lot of room to go. While there is no doubt that stationary, towels, t-shirts, posters, and stickers are already out there representing just a small portion of the merchandising market, what other possibilities are there that could be added to outlets and the Internet market? My reckoning is that if bigger kids like Pokemon, little kids will too. Even the college crowd likes Pokemon, making it pretty much a household word.

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

So I'm just going to go ahead and throw my ideas 'out there.' You developers might want to perk your ears up as I'm offering these suggestions trademark free. First and foremost someone needs to develop a cool Pokeball. It has to have different settings such as 'spin throw' and 'release Pokemon throw' and it should be durable and a little on the expensive side. It also needs sound effects, and should come in different patterns and colors. The only problem with the Pokeball is that obviously giant sized Pokemon won't be springing out of it like in the animation, but you could get a reasonably sized stuffed pokemon to spring out; say, four times the size of the ball. The other big drawback is the hassle of crunching the Pokemon stuffed toy back into the ball, but I bet Pokemon fans could have a lot of fun just throwing the ball around. If you are familiar with Bey Blade, you know that is an inexpensive yet immensely popular toy. But one Pokeball that had a really nice spin to it could be worth ten Bey Blades. Kids could also compete for spin.

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

Other ideas I had are not so dramatic as the Pokeball. They include the usual shtick like Pokemon shampoo, Pokemon gummies, Pokemon caps, towels, lunchboxes, Pokemon shaped toy chests, Pokemon cereal (Breakfast of Trainers), and Pokemon vitamins (they recharge you). Well, the list goes on and on and I'm sure some of these products have already hit the market, but you get the idea. Pokemon characters are nearly as hot as Disney right now and if I were a Merchandiser I'd be on it!

Pokemon Black and White 101

Coming in the next generation of Pokemon is, Pokemon Black and White. Generation V introduces a multitude of new features to the series, along with a new cast of Pokemon which has yet to be translated. Generation 4 left off with 493, but with the addition of generation 5, there are now a total of 649 different Pokemon!

New features are nice, but to any hard-core Pokemon fan, you know you gotta catch them all! With an additional 156 new Pokemon it'll take a even longer time to train and evolve every single one of them, train them, and then battle with other players around the world, or at least your neighborhood.

Pokemon Black and White are separated, like all Pokemon game; by the legendary you can get (first started in the 2nd generation with Ho-Oh and Lugia). Owners of Pokemon Black get the all white Reshiram and owners of Pokemon White get the all black Zekrom. Besides that, both versions have specific Pokemon that could only be found in the game (besides trading from older versions).

The game starts like any other Pokemon game; you start at your home town in the continent of Unova, as a rookie Pokemon trainer that's just starting out. You get 3 starters ranging from a grass, fire, and water type. Each with powerful evolve forms. And you continue your adventure to collect all the badges, beat the elite four, and eventually save the world!

Now enough of that, let's look at the new features of this game:

New Cosmetic Changes

Besides having new graphical look as you would expect from the latest Pokemon game, you can also see a major difference in battle. Now the whole battle is animated, you can see your Pokemon actually tackle attack the enemy. Now the battle is still turn based, but the new battle graphics is a sight to behold, well to people who actually watch it anyways.

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

PokeShifter

Just like Pal Park, Time Capsule, and Transfer Machine, this is Generation 5's ability to allow you to transfer Pokemon from previous versions to your game. Just like with the Pal Park, you are not allowed to have access to it, until you get the national dex, which means you must have seen all the Unova Pokemon at least once. However afterwards, you're free to use it as you please.

C-Gear

Similar to the Poketch of generation 4, this nifty device shows you the time at the bottom screen of your DS, but the best part is that this is a portable multiplayer device. No longer do you have to go to the Pokemon Center to trade and battle with friends. Also it gives you access to the dream world, where you put a Pokemon to sleep and wonder in a online environment, and interact with other players.

Pokemon Global Link

This is just like the Global Trade Center in the 4th generation. This device allows you to trade Pokemon with other players online, also some new features is that you can have random matches with players all over the world. You can now finally have a way to battle other challengers live that's not your friends online!

Pokemon Dream World

This is a special place that you can reach by sending your save file online to the official Pokemon Black and White site, allowing you to go and interact with other fellow players. Along with that, here you can catch many Pokemon that can't normally be found in the Unova region. So you'll see a lot of trainers who already beat the game here.

Entralink

Access via the C-Gear, you get to literally travel with your friends locally, in a special area, where you can find Pokemon that aren't originally native to Unova. You and friends can tackle on side quests together, battle, and trade!

Pokemon Musical

This is basically the beauty contest that was first introduced to the game in the 3rd generation. It consists of dressing your Pokemon up, playing mini-games, and then display to the judge the beauty of your Pokemon (with 5 different categories of beauty!), it's a fun thing to do when you're going to the elite four, or when you're done with the game.

Seasons

Introduced in the 2nd generation was time, well 3 generations later we have seasons. The game doesn't operate with real time though, the seasons get swapped every month, so in a year we'll cycle around the season 3 times. Certain Pokemons changes with the seasons, and certain locations open up during certain seasons. And as you can imagine, the appearance of the game does change with the season!

Sprite Battle Animation

Like mentioned earlier, the sprites are all fully animated. This means that you can literally see the motion of your Pokemon attacking other Pokemon or being attacked. And not to mention the sprite of the Pokemon also increases, you have a larger sprite of your Pokemon.

Triple Battle

One of the most popular new additions to Pokemon Black and White is triple battle. You might have thought it was crazy having double battle, but now we have triple battle! Just like the name suggests you use 3 Pokemon at the same time. However there are some rules that you should know. The Pokemon in the middle can attack all Pokemon on the other side; however the Pokemon on the sides can't attack the Pokemon on the far side away from them.

Rotation Battles

This is similar the triple battle, except that you are battling on a rotating platform that allows the player to rotate their Pokemon around, increasing the strategy to the game, as one must predict what their enemy will switch their Pokemon with and strategize against them.

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

Gyms

It wouldn't be a Pokemon game if there weren't any gyms and gym leaders. In this game you see the usual 8 gyms, but a twist is that there are actually 11 gym leaders you can face, how's that for a new twist to the game? People who have watched Pokemon Best Wishes will see familiar faces!

Elite Four

After you collected all the badges, the next thing you should do is to challenge the elite four, beat them, challenge the champion and then beat the game. However a twist to this game is that you can actually choose to battle with whichever elite four members you want in any order.

Game Exclusive Features

For Pokemon White, trainers get access to White Forest, an area where players can catch even more Pokemon. But what about Pokemon Black? Well Pokemon Black owners get Black City, a city filled with trainers, battles, and items. Truthfully, I think Pokemon Black got ripped off in this case.

So in conclusion you can see that Pokemon Black and White is going to be a large game, that is even bigger then Pokemon Diamond and Pearl. Japanese review sites have given this game full points, and I expect nothing less from this game when it finally comes to America, or any other country!

With 156 new Pokemon, trainers like me and you will have a blast playing the game, catching them all, experience the 4 seasons, and then trade/battle with each other. I know I will be spending a lot of time online battling with friends and random people.

As an avid fan of Pokemon, playing all the games from the beginning to the end, Jacob knows everything there is to know about pokemon. And now with the release of Generation V, it's time to buy Pokemon black [http://buypokemonblack.info]!

The Many Types Of Pokemon

In case you didn't know, there are now over 17 types of Pokemon, with 495 individual species. This is a far cry from the few original 'Capsule Monsters' that Satoshi Tajiri invented less than twenty years ago. Unfortunately for some (some- most gamers just accept the new Pokemon with joyous enthusiasm), there is no real story or logic behind the proliferation of all these species over the years, but they keep growing. And the more there are, the more there are to be caught and trained!

The latest in the Pokemon craze is the Pokemon Black and White which has of course spawned new monsters, both the new Pokemon Black and White video games, and also a whole new line of Pokemon Black and White cards, Pokemon Black and White plush toys (stuffed toys) and Pokemon Zukan Tomy figures. Pokemon Black and White promo cards were very hot when they came out. In fact, Pokemon Black and White has been the most exciting release that the game has seen in a while.

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

Type 1 are called 'normal' Pokemon, though it's hard to see what's normal about them. Type 2 are Fire Pokemon and as the name implies, have some ability to make fire. Most do not look anything like dragons however. Type 3 is Type 2's opposite- the Water Pokemon. Presumably a Fire Pokemon will be doused in battle with one of these, or whoever has more of each will win. Type 4 are the Electric Pokemon. From this group comes the Pokemon mascot, Pikachu. These creatures are capable of generating huge electrical charges when they need to- that is, in battle, or in the hands of an inexperienced trainer. Type 5 are the Ice Pokemon, which are really good for slowing down an opponent in battle.

Technically, they should be able to keep a cooler chilled on a road trip to Vermillion City as well. Type 6 are the Grass Pokemon, which generally means that their DNA has been crossed with plant life. These leafy vestiges usually give the Pokemon powers like razors or intoxicating scents. Type 7 are the Fighting Pokemon, and as the name implies, they excel at punching, kicking, and the martial arts. Type 8 are the Poisonous Pokemon. Don't let these guys bite you, spit on you, or lick you. Many have poisonous skin or other body parts as well.

Type 9 are the Ground Pokemon. They hunker low and release a ferocious upward attack. They are hard to pin down as well. Type 10 are the Flying Pokemon. Their advantages are obvious but they are susceptible to fire, water, and poison attacks. Type 11 are the Physic Pokemon. They usually know what their opponent's next move will be. Type 12 are the Bug Pokemon. Their weakness in fragility they make up for in agility. Type 13 are the Rock Pokemon. They are very hard to defeat and deliver devastating blows. Type 14 are the Ghost Pokemon. If you can't see them, you can't hit them. Type 16 are the Dark Pokemon. They are very good at blending into the background for a sneak attack. Finally, Type 17 are the Steel Pokemon. Like the Rock Pokemon, they are very hard to defeat and deliver devastating blows.

Why Many Kids Don't Always Have A Favorite Pokemon

I'm sure you've heard of Pokemon, but did you know that a new release of the video game called Pokemon Black and White is out? There are new Pokemon Black and White plush toys to go along with it, as well as new Pokemon Black and White promo cards and Pokemon Black and White game cards. There are also new Pokemon Black and White Zukan figures by Tomy. My son can't stop checking out all the new goods at his favorite Pokemon web site.

As far as individual Pokemon go, there is the phenomena of kids or gamers becoming attached to a certain Pokemon. In fact, a teenager of 17 might become so enamored of a certain character that he may even buy the Pokemon plushie (stuffed toy). Which is quite out of character for a 17 year old. And everyone who knows anything about Pokemon knows that Pikachu is of course the adored unofficial but obvious mascot to Pokemon in the same way that Mickey Mouse is to Disney.

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

But usually kids have a hard time telling you their favorite Pokemon character when asked. It makes sense though when you break it down. For one thing, no matter how cute, comely, or handsome the Pokemon may be, they are after all monsters. Even 'cuddly' Pikachu has an absolutely terrifying electric punch. Every Pokemon character is dangerous. Mickey Mouse can't hurt you but any of the over 400 Pokemon can- lethally! So there is a dark element to the Pokemon that I think kids remain in awe and are a little frightened of when it comes to the Pokemon.

It's a fascinating thing to be a trainer of monsters. In Ultraman, monsters represent absolute evil. There is no taming them- the only solution is to destroy them utterly. Ultraman is a savior, not a tamer. Monsters only represent chaos and destruction. The monsters in Pokemon represent something different altogether. Pokemon are animal-like creatures that in general present us with a temperate, cute, and even affectionate nature. Watch out when they release their powers though, for they become formidable. Pokemon are more like a Stegosaurus than a Godzilla: basically they are non-aggressive but are quite capable of defending themselves when necessary. Stand back when they do.

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

Finally the tremendous combination of species with different capabilities makes it hard to have an absolute favorite. There are no 'all mighty' Pokemon. Some are stronger than others of course, but different Pokemon can be very useful in surprisingly different situations. So one type of Pokemon could be a favorite in a given scenario, and another in a different one. I think that rather than developing favorites (like a favorite ship in a space game), the drive is to know and handle as many Pokemon as one can. With enough skill, one can then become a Pokemon master.

Play Pokemon Games Online

Pokemon is one of the modern-day characters that many kids have come to love. Pokemons are character monsters that kids can use as a pet. But they are not real pets, of course.
